Emergency shelter options for people experiencing homelessness

CBS 19, Nov 23 2023: In Charlottesville, people who are experiencing homelessness have emergency shelter options.

There are three organizations that are providing shelter this winter season: People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry (PACEM), the Salvation Army, and the Haven. Each organization offers different shelter accommodations.

PACEM provides seasonal shelter for 25 people from roughly 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. and the location rotates. The Salvation Army has 28 beds for men and 26 for women with nine transitional housing apartment options for those with children. The Haven is a day shelter from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. that provides breakfast, showers, laundry and more.
