The Faces of Our Guests

Our guests are growing older and younger, and we see more women.

  • 41-50 year old men continued to be the largest demographic segment, comprising 34% of our guests.
  • But while most of our guests were single men between 30 and 50, 26% were younger than 30, and 22% were older than 50.
  • 22% of our guests were women, a record number.
  • 44% were African-American, 51% were Caucasian, and 3% were Hispanic.
  • 11% were U.S. Military Veterans.

 

Homelessness and Education

  • 41% of our guests had a high school or equivalent diploma.
  • 36% did not graduate from high school.
  • 21% had some level of college education.

 

Where Were our Guests Living Before PACEM?

  • 40% were living on the street; an increase of 13% over a year ago.
  • 33% were staying with family or friends, who could no longer afford to have them stay.
  • 5% came from jail; 6% came from a shelter; 4% came from a hotel; 7% came from a substance abuse or hospital facility.
  • 9% became homeless after incarceration.
