A cappella concert benefits PACEM

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) — Music filled the air at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church and it wasn’t just for Sunday service.

It was actually a benefit concert for PACEM.

The singers who performed are a Charlottesville-based women’s A Cappella group called FIRE.

PACEM says FIRE is one of its biggest supporters, because the organization does two fundraisers with them a year, and when you’re a small nonprofit, that can make a world of difference.

This specific benefit will help fund two percent of PACEM’s budget.

“It seems like a small number,” said PACEM Executive Director Dawn Grzegorczyk. “It really isn’t, that means if 50 individuals put on this kind of support concert or benefit for us every year, we wouldn’t have to do any fundraising.”

When the temperatures outside drop below freezing, PACEM also provides a warm meal and a place to stay for homeless people in the community.
